In custom injection molding, producing a perfect sample part is only half the battle. The real challenge is delivering the same quality, part after part, batch after batch. At Ningbo Yinzhou Tuoda Plastic, we have built a quality assurance (QA) system that monitors and controls every stage of production – from raw material receiving to final packaging.
In this post, I will walk you through our QA approach and show you how we ensure consistency, reliability, and traceability for every order.
Why Quality Assurance Matters More Than You Think
A single defective part can cause a product recall, a production line stoppage, or even reputational damage for your brand. For industries like medical devices, automotive, or food contact, quality is not negotiable – it is a legal requirement.
That is why we treat QA not as a final checkpoint, but as a continuous, proactive process.
Our 5-Stage Quality Control System
1. Incoming Material Inspection
Quality begins before the plastic even enters the machine. Every batch of resin – whether PP, ABS, PC, or wheat straw bio-plastic – is checked for:
- Purity and consistency (no contamination)
- Moisture content (excess moisture causes surface defects)
- Traceability (batch numbers and material certificates)
Only after passing these checks is the material released for production.
2. In-Process Monitoring
During injection molding, we continuously monitor critical parameters:
- Melt temperature
- Injection pressure and speed
- Cooling time
- Cavity pressure (where sensors are installed)
If any parameter drifts outside the acceptable range, the system alerts our technicians immediately – before a single bad part is produced.
3. First Article Inspection (FAI)
When a new mold is trialed, we produce the first samples and perform a complete dimensional and functional inspection. We check:
- Critical dimensions against the client’s 2D drawing
- Surface finish and color
- Fit and assembly with mating parts
A detailed FAI report is shared with the customer for approval before mass production starts.
4. Random Sampling During Production
For high-volume orders, we use AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) sampling plans based on industry standards (e.g., ANSI/ASQ Z1.4). Depending on the criticality of the part, we inspect:
- Every hour for high-risk features
- Every shift for general dimensions
- Visually for surface defects
Parts that fall outside the tolerance are marked, segregated, and scrapped – they never reach the packing line.
5. Final Outgoing Inspection
Before any shipment leaves our factory, a final random sample is taken from finished goods. We verify:
- Packaging integrity (cartons, labels, poly bags)
- Correct part quantity
- Final appearance (no flash, sink marks, or contamination)
Only when all checks are passed do we issue the packing list and shipping documents.
Tools We Use for Precision Measurement
To ensure accuracy, our inspection lab is equipped with:
- Digital calipers and micrometers(0.01mm resolution)
- CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine)for complex 3D geometries
- Go/nogo gaugesfor fast pass/fail checks
- Color spectrophotometerfor color consistency (Delta E ≤ 1)
- Surface roughness tester
Traceability: From Resin to Your Door
Every order is assigned a unique lot number. That lot number follows the parts through molding, secondary operations, and packaging. If a customer ever reports an issue, we can trace back to:
- Which raw material batch was used
- Which molding machine and shift produced the parts
- Which inspector signed off on the final check
This traceability system gives you full visibility and peace of mind.
Continuous Improvement: Closing the Loop
Quality is not static. We review all quality data – including customer feedback – in monthly management meetings. If a defect trend is identified, we launch a corrective action (8D or CAPA) to fix the root cause and update our standard operating procedures.
Your Quality Partner, Not Just a Supplier
When you work with Tuoda Plastic, you are not buying parts – you are buying consistency. Our QA system is designed to give you:
- Fewer surprises– problems are caught early
- Lower inspection costs– you can trust our reports
- Faster market access– no delays due to quality disputes
We are proud to have maintained a customer complaint rate below 0.5% for three consecutive years. That is the result of daily discipline and a genuine commitment to getting things right.
Ready to Experience Reliable Quality?
Whether you need 1,000 or 1,000,000 parts, our QA system works just as hard for you. Contact us to discuss your next project – we will send you a sample inspection report from a similar order so you can see our quality firsthand.
